It was only a matter of time before GMC took the off-road capabilities of its Sierra HD to a whole new level, and now it has been achieved with the AT4X version.
Earlier last month, GMC unveiled a brand-new variant that will be added to the Sierra AT4X lineup. The Sierra HD thus becomes the third model in the GMC family to benefit from this variation. Moreover, this is not the only novelty, as a special edition developed by the American Expedition Vehicles tuner will also be offered by GMC.
Enhanced Capabilities
The GMC Sierra HD is already a very versatile truck at its core and can accomplish all sorts of tasks. However, that does not mean it is competent in all possible situations, especially when it comes to off-road driving. This is where the AT4X designation comes into play, as it adds numerous improvements to the Sierra HD.
Firstly, there is a 1.5-inch raised suspension package and DSSV dampers. The American manufacturer's truck also gets a rear locking differential. The engineers have also replaced control arms and several components in the steering. The Sierra AT4X comes with 35-inch Goodyear Territory tires as standard, as well as reinforced skid plates.
The American manufacturer's truck offers several driving modes, including an enhanced off-road mode. This mode controls multiple elements to provide you with an optimal off-road driving experience. The Sierra HD AT4X is equipped with multiple cameras, providing 14 different views. Finally, it also features a 13.4-inch multimedia screen and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster display.
The AEV version elevates its capabilities and appearance to a higher level with custom steel bumpers and stunning 18-inch ultra-rugged wheels. The American tuner has also added several additional underbody protection plates, particularly to protect steering components and the transfer case.
Competent and Powerful
The GMC Sierra HD AT4X is powered by a standard 6.6-liter gasoline V8 engine. This engine delivers 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The 6.6-liter turbodiesel engine is also available as an option, with 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. It is what allows the American manufacturer's truck to offer a towing capacity of over 18,400 pounds.
The first units of the GMC Sierra HD AT4X are expected to arrive on the market during the third quarter of 2023.
